Visit us at BOOT Dusseldorf

Just one month to go, and the biggest water sports exhibition in Europe, BOOT Düsseldorf, will be upon us again.
This is the only exhibition where K&M is only represented with a stand, and not with a ship. You will find our stand in Superyacht Hall 7a, Stand Number B08. It will be easy to find us, as we will be right beside the access door to Hall 7!
Would you like to visit us to discuss your ideas and requirements? Or do you have any specific questions about aluminium, designers or the building process? Come along and visit us! You can make an appointment via info@kmy.nlor +31(0)515 233 000. We will then set aside time to see you.
The exhibition is from Saturday 21st to Sunday 29th January and is open each day from 10:00 to 18:00 hours. You will find more information about parking, admission prices, route finding, etc. on www.boot.de.
Bestewind 50: Winner of Yacht of the Year?
On the first Saturday of BOOT Düsseldorf we will find out whether the Bestewind 50 has been chosen as European Yacht of the Year! It is all very exciting.
After the Hiswa te Water exhibition in IJmuiden, various journalists from European water sports magazines have sailed with the Bestewind 50 and the other nominated ships. When they were on board they were very positive - in spite of the bad weather - so we are hopeful.
At our YouTube channel you can watch two videos which were made during the test voyage with 50-knot gusts!

Review Boot Dusseldorf and news Open Day

Well, it's already been a week since Boot Dusseldorf ended. This year we had a new location in Hall 7a. We where right next to the door to Hall 7, so we saw a lot of people walking by.

Luckily for us, a lot of them also stopped to have a look at our stand, the beautiful scale models and large pictures of yachts we have built. We are not in a market with a lot of prospects, but we did have some interesting conversations at the stand, with people who understood and appreciated the idea of having their own dream yacht build, exactly how they want it.

We made some changes to our the stand i.e.; new black backwall (with our new logo), new aluminium logo's for the brands (Axonite, Stadtship, Bestevaer and Bestewind) and a new floor in the middle. We also use some LED lights to show off our new corporate color behind the pictures.

The last week was busy with getting everything from the stand back in place, and working hard to send everyone who requested information the right info, specs and photo's. Hopefully we will see some of them at our yard soon.

Speaking of which, on April 16th, we are having our Open Day! Have you always been curious to what our yard looks like, how the aluminum hulls are build or do you just wish to walk around the yard anonymous, please come by! The yard opens at 10:00 hrs and we close around 16:00 hrs. Of course, entrance is free and no need to register in advance.
We are working on the list of yachts that will be present, and other entertainment like speakers, suppliers, etc. Keep an eye on this blog, our website and Twitter!

Not a first weld but a first pile for K&M Yachtbuilders

About five times a year a first weld is made in a new aluminium yacht at K&M Yachtbuilders for another happy customer. But last Thursday we were the happy customer. The first pile was driven for our new business premises.

It took about an hour and a half to drive 14 piles into the ground at Stienplaat 7 in Makkum, the Netherlands. The conversion, most of which is taking place indoors, is needed because we have expanded rapidly during the last few years, in terms of both orders for custom-built yachts and personnel.

Once the conversion has been completed there will be a central foyer on the ground floor, surrounded by all the offices.  An open interior will be created by using a lot of glass partitions, low walls of no more than 1.60 m in height and a long passage connecting the various offices, almost like a jetty. The wooden floors and wall furniture give the premises a nautical accent.

The K&M team

What does K&M Yachtbuilders build?

K&M Yachtbuilders is dedicated to the construction of custom-build sailing yachts. This means that every yacht is build according to the wishes and demands of the owner. Everything is tailor made, and no two yachts are the same!

We have built yachts for designers like Gerard Dijkstra, Van de Stadt, Vripack, Hoek, Simonis Voogd, German Frers and more. For us, it doesn't really matter who designs the yacht, as long as you are happy with it! Examples are the Icon 48, Colin Archer 1860, and the new German Frers 88ft.

But, we also build yachts from a certain 'type' or 'line' as you will. The most famous ones are the Bestevaer and the Stadtship yachts.
